Florida Schools: Worthless Shitholes?
You bet your ass they are! I have the misfortune of living in Florida, and furthermore I have the misfortune of living in Southwest Florida. We have some of the worst schools in the country right here in sunny Fort Myers/Cape Coral.
The schools wouldn't be so bad if they were cleaned once in a while. Before last year began, they completely rehauled my school and they must've scraped three tons of moldy gum off the bottom of the desks (why didn't they just get new ones?) and they had enough asbestos in the ceilings to wipe out a small country. And to top it off, I'm going to the best high school in the county.
If that doesn't put things into perspective for you, then perhaps this will: the worst high school in the county is an abandoned jail converted into a school (only instead of removing the bars, they reinforced them!). By some coincidence, all of the "ghetto" black students, wiggers, and the most depressed people in the country are all students there. You know the few remaining goths that haven't turned emo? You'll find them there.
What pisses me off more is that these school administrative types seem to think you can solve all of your problems by enforcing strict uniform policies. Indeed, there isn't an Elementary or Middle school in the area that doesn't follow a uniform policy.
The entire concept and reason behind uniforms destroys itself when applied in a school environment. Students (especially teenagers) want to express their opinions and creativity and you're not allowing them to do so. But that's not all. One of the reasons for uniforms is that it "removes social groups based on attire" and prevents "bullying." In fact, it does neither. You can tell a rich person from a poor person easily: one has clean white shirts, the other has faded gray shirts. And thus, their justification is rendered useless.
Knowing how bad our schools are ran makes me dread returning there on Monday. And the fact that our high school is the best only makes me glad I'm not in some other hellhole.
The whole point of uniforms, is to make students feel inferior by lack of originality... They think that by doing so, it will dehumanize students in a legal fashion, making them easier to brainwash and control...

lol, nice... but yeah, I meant how they tattooed the numbers onto the prisoners and "Stripped" them of their names, attempting to make them feel as sub-human
They give us school ID cars that can't be used for anything anywhere else and drag us into the office for the rest of the day if we don't bring it with us. It just so happens that I have 4 of them just so I can't lose mine. Why give them a reason, right?
I think the most a uniform manages to do is stop some bullying based on fashion, stop some bullying based on looking like an idiot, and strangle students with ties. No, wait. Those are all the same thing.
My uniform is terrible. They cost a fortune, and last for just under a year. And the sports people can wear sports things on their uniform, emos can have falloutboy badges on their's, I could have a Swastika on under my blazer if I wanted.
It doesn't stop social bullying. It just makes my parents have a lot less money. :p
I fucking hate my school district. Every student, teacher, school administrator, and who-the-fuck knows else has a fucking problem with me because I speak my mind.
