April 20, 1999 - Not the Result of Psychotic Gamers, You Morons!
Once again, it would seem as though the responsibility of showing you ignorant fools the err in your assumptions would fall upon my shoulders. I am so sick and fucking tired of hearing people talk about the Massacre, saying "those Columbine kids were psychopaths. They were crazy... blah blah blah I'm an ignorant cuntbag..." and will defend, to the death, their invalid arguments based off ignorant assumptions. They refuse to realize they're wrong, even when the facts are presented directly in front of their face, right under their noses.
Eric and Dylan, the two Columbine shooters, were not raging psychopaths, sociopaths, or any -paths. Nor were they the product of "video game violence." The only two things that can be attributed to the massacre with any credibility are the two that are hardly ever mentioned. The first one is the fact that they were bullied endlessly. School was a hellhole for them, and there was nothing they could do to escape from it all. The other thing, which I personally disregard as credible evidence, was their medication.
Some of you might say "But Vice-Deity Kobra, they wrote in their diaries that they 'trained' on Doom 3." If that was the case, they would've killed alot more people. During the school shooting, they shot quite a few students, but didn't kill them all. Any experienced gamer knows to go for headshots, and to shoot again if the body keeps moving. If they, indeed, were training for this on video games, there wouldn't have been any survivors of their gunshots.
And for the rest of you, the "psychotic" argument falls in on itself. All throughout the shooting, none of the security camera footage revealed any evidence to suggest an abnormal psyche in either one of them. I've seen the videos. If you download them, all that you will find is two students who were treated like shit for so long that they decided to retaliate in an extreme fashion. You can only fuck with someone for so long before they stop caring about the consequences and strike back with deadly force.
Now, before you reply with some bullshit argument supporting something I dismissed or some flame about how "wrong" I am and how I should "find God" or something... I want you to ask yourself this: Since Kobra obviously doesn't give a shit, will I accomplish anything by wasting my time, and his, by posting a comment or shooting off a horribly-misspelled e-mail that he will promptly ignore/delete? If you said "no", then congratulations! You're obviously not like most of the dumbfucks (Izar, jesusfreak2006, Bria, Bria-chan) who think I care about the opinions of other people and there may be hope for you yet when the Church of Omen takes over the world and destroys all forced religion.
Too bad it was all in vain, for there is still bullying and harassment run wild at our schools. I've dealt with enough harassment from my school administrators to last a lifetime... and that's just from three days (the week of Thanksgiving)
one can't really "Train" on a video game... aiming with a mouse/stick and then pressing a button hardly teaches you how to aim and fire a gun in real life...
This post is one of the best posts ever here. I myself am constantly bullied by kids at school, and you are right on so many counts:
You can only screw with someone so much... and then they psycho on your ass.
If the had trained with Doom 3, or any other FPS game for that matter, even including the fact that they might have bought a light gun controller, Fps games are too different from real life shooting. It's like saying someone trained for a suicide car bombing using Need for Speed.
And the survivors thing, although it's gruesome to say this, you're absolutely right. Even in Metroid Prime, it at least teaches you to shoot it until you're absolutely sure that it's dead. There may have been survivors anyway, but there would've been a lot less.
The truth of it is, if the bullying gets that bad, talk to someone about it. A teacher can help, and if they won't listen then you can talk to your parents about it.
I forget where I read this, but the type of bullying that goes on in schools would be cause for arrest if they did that outside of school grounds. Now personally, I think that is stupid. If it's punishable by law outside school, it should be punishable by law in school (at least in high school and college).
The other day a substitute teacher and I were talking about it and she said "Oh, I thought they shot up the school because they wanted to kill all the black people."
Once again, wrong!
