Personal Responsibility is so 20th Century
This has been agitating me for a while now, and I just now got a chance to sit down and write about it. It seems everywhere I turn, from kids going out of control (usually due to having lazy parents) to high school shootings, video games are the universal scape-goat. At first, it was just a convenient excuse for asshole lawyers and lazy soccer moms to blame for their lack of parenting skills and common sense. But now, think about the message that's being sent to kids when video games take the blame for everything.

You didn't study for the test and got a D-? It must've been the video games. After all, it's entirely inconceivable that someone could struggle to understand the subject matter or, in most cases, to be distracted by something other than video games. How many kids park their asses in front of the TV for hours on in? Video games are interactive and usually require some thought and effort.

Can you imagine the consequences of an entire generation of out-of-control brats who think they can do whatever they want because video game developers will inevitably take the blame? Can you imagine that said generation surviving to 30 or, even worse, surviving past 30 and becoming a politician? If the choice was given to me between living in that reality or fucking a cheese grater, looks like there's gonna be a bloody mess on our hands.

Eventually, you dipshits will have to realize that these things are the result of society's failures. And, as a result, society will repeatedly suffer from them until society collectively pulls its head out of its ass and realizes that there is no more scape-goating to dodge the issue. The issue is here and now, and pixellized violence isn't the cause of it.
